Question
Hi Lisa!  I have had my boots for 10 years.  They have always been really comfortable.  I ski 8-10 times a season.  I have found this year that my feet slide around inside the boot.  Does this mean I need new boots or can I do something to correct the problem?
Thanks for any advice you may give.

Answer
Hi Marianne and thanks for the question

Boot liners do wear out as they age.  And as this happens, it is more difficult to stear the ski where you want it to go.

You can either invest in a pair of moulded liners that will then fit into your boots. They can cost upto $200 depending on the material in the liner.

Or
you could have your liners packed out. There are 'sticky' pads
ski boot techs have that they use to fill in the areas that have packed out too much over time. This can be cheaper - depending how they choose to charge you [time or material based].

However, these are only options if the shell is still in good condition. If it looks like it is beginning to wear or 'soften' in places then it will be safer to buy new boots. The plastic shells can over time get stress fractures and under pressure these will split. And this happening near the top of your run is not a good thing. Also have the buckles checked for stability. You dont want to spend $150 having the liner fixed for the boot to blow out.

If you need help on buying boots - i have written quite a bit over the last 2 years, feels free to scroll through and get some useful hints.

Hope you're in comfy boots soon.
