Trying to get back into diving!

Question
I'm 27 years old and used to dive in high school and also a little bit in college (in NY). Since leaving school, I have found it difficult to find places to keep up with the sport and have definitely fallen out of practice. I'm moving out to the Berkeley/Bay area next year and I am really hoping to get back into diving in some way! Are there any clubs/teams that I could join in the area that would be appropriate for my age/skill level? Thank you!

There are several clubs you can check out in the area you will be living. What you want to find is club with a Masters Diving program. That way you can be with other adults who want to do the same thing as you instead of practicing with a lot of little kids. Here are some choices with their contact info found at the end of this answer:

In the east bay about 20 minutes from Berkeley are the Sherman Divers of Lafayette. Contact the owner Steve Sherman for more info.

All Valley Divers is south and east of Berkeley. Monte Young is the head coach.

The program with the biggest Masters program is found at Stanford University. Tanja Gerchoun runs the adult diving program. It is a little far to go but they have the best pool.

You can find these teams and more by going to www.usadiving.org. Click on 'Join USA Diving' and then Find A Club. Enter CA and a list of teams will come up with contact info. I did not see one for the U.C. Berkeley program so you would have to make a visit to their varsity pool when school starts and talk to the head diving coach to see if he has a program for adult non-students.

Good luck. I am sure you will find something you like.
