diving competition

Question
What would a typical diving "meet" be like--and is meet the
right word? Do divers compete for their team or
individually? How many teams would show up? And how many
dives would each person do? Would every person on the team
compete, or would the coach choose only certain team
members? Would both the springboards and platforms be used?
(All this referring to a meet for teenage divers with some
experience in the sport, competing at a level lower than
college competition level).

Yes, meet is the right word for competitions. There is no typical diving meet because of all the different ability level meets there are and all the various age groups there are. This question would take a book to answer!

Divers mainly compete individually but there are meets, like high school meets, where you compete for your team. On the number of dives each person would do again depends on the level of the meet and the age group competed. This is another question that needs an extremely long answer that I cannot provide.

Go to these websites for more info on diving and way for you to get the complete answers to your questions:

Also Google the National Interscholastic Federation and look up the rule book for high school diving. While at Google, look up the NCAA.com or .org and find the collegiate rule book for diving.

www.flipnrip.com -  Site for families and divers.

Look and see what kind of dives teenage girls are doing and their scores.. Also click on upcoming meets and look for a meet close to you that you can attend and see first hand what a meet is about.
