Question
Hello

What is the turn usually used from back to breast in IM swimming?

Thank you

Sincerely

Eddie

Answer
There are two ways you can approach a back to breaststroke turn. One is a more "amateur" way, but in the end, they are almost the same thing. When you do a breast to back turn, the first way is the traditional one, a two handed touch and push off. The second way is called the "suicide." It is a bit more complicated and for more competitive swimmers. Basically you take a few strokes to when you are supposed to flip, then instead of just hitting the wall, or doing an illegal turn by flipping onto your stomach, you do a back flip. You use your hands to guide you while you push off the wall. For more information about the "suicide" there should be some videos out there. You can ask your coach for more information as well.
