Swell

2016/7/15 12:01:11

Question
I experience a swell at my right knee after much flutter kicks. It goes out with time. But, it swells again after a couple of days (I didn't go to the pool during these couple of days) and it's difficult to walk painlessly with such swelling.

Answer
Hi Shawn...

I would go see a Doctor.  It may not be life threatening of course but you always have the possibility of damaging more parts of your body.

This is not an uncommon type of pain for swimmers but you don't want to take chances.  Many backstrokers get this same type of thing in their shoulders.  Breathstrokers also get what you are experiencing.

I would do a hot/cold type of first aid thing for the swelling and then go see a doctor and see what he/she reccommends.

Just be aware that you are pry right that it is from the kicking and that it is common for swimming but the extent of the issue can only be determined by a qualified professional.

Thanks,
LM
