how to wrestle

Question
hi, i'am going to try out for my high school wrestling team this winter and if i make it then it will be my first year. ive ben doing jiu-jitsu for 2 and a half years i think it will giv me a better chance at making the team but the thing is all i know about wrestling is to take the person down but iam not sure what to do next after dat. also if you can tell me a few work outs that can help me, thanks.

Answer
when i've become tired on a wrestling mat. the first place i feel it is my legs. so that's i think where you need to start.  build your stamina in your legs and you should be fine. some uphill sprints, one legged body weight squats, or single leg(low weight, high rep) leg press should help to do that.
as far as after a take down. if its your first year then you have a lot to learn. don't worry there will be more situations that you won't be familiar or comfortable with. just makes sure that you're open to suggestion from your coaches and that you keep trying to improve. its not like flipping a switch, you'll realize by the end of the season how much you have really improved. good luck!
