Question
I AM US MARINE AND I'M GOING TO TRY OUT FOR THE ALL MARINE WRESTLING TEAM. COULD YOU  GIVE ME SOME GUIDELINES ON A WORKOUT PLAN AND A DIET TO GET ME MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY READY. I HAVE THE WHOLE MONTH OF JAN. AND FEB TO TRAIN. I AM NO STRANGER TO THE SPORT ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT WRESTLED IN COMPETITION SINCE 1999. I'M ABOUT 15 TO 20 OVER BUT I RUN REGULARLLY AND COACH A HIGHSCHOOL ALMOST EVERYDAY. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SOUND ADVICE.

Answer
If you can get into a high school room then you have workout partners that will help you build your cardio system to a wrestling match level.  How big are you?  Go with kids that are larger.

First, Drill every day with those kids.  If you want to contact me directly and review the kind of drills, please do so.  I'll give you my direct email at the end of this narrative.

Second, get on a high protein diet and take a quality multiple vitamin.  Drink plenty of fluids, more than you think you need, Eat something from every color every day; yellow is banana, red is apple, green is grapes, etc.  Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

DO NOT EAT after 7:00 p.m.  Nourish your body early in the day and during the day but not late at night.

STOP eating processed food; chips, cookies, soda, pop, fast food, all that good tasking heavy with fat junk.

Eat good and work hard.

The most important part of your workout is wrestling -- hard.

Semper Fi and God bless all you guys for the job you are doing for our freedoms.

stay in touch.
