Take An Alaskan Ski Getaway At Alyeska Resort

For ages, Alaska has been a source of awe and mystery. It's also famous for some of the world's best skiing. Of all the places to ski in Alaska, the Alyeska Resort is among the best. This area gets an average of 631 inches of snow every year, with a 2,501 foot vertical drop and a maximum elevation of 2,751 feet.

The Alyeska Resort offers some of the world's best skiing, but you won't find the slopes overly crowded and you won't have to wait in long lineups to use the lifts. There are nine lifts including two surface lifts, six chair lifts and one cable car line. Most of the 68 trails are designed for use by intermediate skiers, but beginners' and experts' trails are also available.

Night skiing at the Alyeska Resort brings another element of thrill and adventure to your Alaskan ski getaway. In addition to the snow capped mountains and hanging glaciers, you'll also see those famous Northern Lights. These incredible views are part of the reason why the Alyeska resort is ranked number nine on Skiing Magazine's list of the top twenty-five killer ski trips.

In this part of Alaska, the ski season begins in the middle of November and runs until the middle of April. The area also boasts the longest daytime hours in the United States. In April, you can expect about sixteen hours of sunlight each day. But, in December, there are only about seven hours of daylight. So, if you're hitting the Alyeska Resort slopes in December, be prepared to do a lot of night skiing.

The Alyeska Prince Hotel is the place to be! Here you will enjoy luxurious rooms and fine dining. Nightly entertainment is also available. There are other nightlife spots in the area as well that are not affiliated with the hotel.

Tubing is a great way to have fun, and the Glacier Tubing Park really delivers. This park has two lanes of terrain and a surface lift, so everyone in the family will have a blast at the tubing park. The snowboarders in your group will love the Alyeska Terrain Park.

Other winter activities that can be enjoyed in and around the Alyeska Resort include heli-sking, ice climbing, ocean cruising tours, flight seeing, dog sledding, back country skiing, mountaineering, and polar bear watching.

If you're looking for the ultimate winter vacation, you'll find it at the Alyeska Resort. Dress warm and brave the elements, then head back to the hotel for some truly luxurious pampering. It's a fabulous taste of Alaska, and it's a great way to find out how thrilling skiing can really be.

There are activities for the entire family to enjoy, and there are many sights and attractions in the area to be enjoyed as well. The Alyeska Resorts really is an awesome winter family ski vacation!
