* A 12mm socket
* A flat-head screwdriver
* A Phillips-head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
2. Connect the timing light to the battery and to the #1 spark plug wire.
3. Start the engine and let it idle.
4. Point the timing light at the timing marks on the flywheel.
5. The timing marks should line up with the pointer on the engine block.
6. If the timing marks are not lined up, use the 10mm socket to loosen the bolts holding the stator plate.
7. Use the flat-head screwdriver to adjust the position of the stator plate.
8. Tighten the bolts holding the stator plate.
9. Repeat steps 3-8 until the timing marks are lined up.
10. Disconnect the timing light and reattach the spark plug wire.
Your Yamaha outboard is now timed correctly.
