5 Easy Ways To Get A Good Golf Swing

2016/7/19 15:17:27

When you just started learning the game of golf, it's likely that the biggest challenge will be to master the golf swing that plays the most crucial part in getting good shots. It is normal for amateurs to become frustrated after they repeatedly failed to hit the shots that they expect. They will even end up feeling worse off than not playing the game. If you happen to belong to one of them, don't be too upset. This is because there are some easy ways, which you can practice in your own backyard to get that perfect golf swing that you desire.

Work on your arm swing
Developing the correct arm swing is one of the most important factors in producing consistency because your arms and the club are the only things that swing. Take your grip with your hands without a club, basically holding onto your left thumb and swing your arms back so that your thumbs are pointing upward in the backswing. Then swing your arms forward, allowing the right arm to rotate over the left and point your thumbs skyward in the follow-through. You should be able to feel the relaxed and weightless feeling of your arms swinging.

Feel the coil
Get into your golf posture and hold a volleyball or soccer ball between your hands with your arms extended. Swing your arms back as though you're throwing the ball over your right shoulder. This allows you to feel the rotation of your body as it coils. The motion is very rotary and the arms swing back up and around. This also builds strength in your upper body, which is important in supporting the club during the swing.

Get a grip
While watching television or talking on your phone, you can practice placing your hands on the club correctly. Grip the club first with the left hand, then place the right hand, making sure both are on the club correctly. Hinge the club up and down a few times, then let go. Repeat twenty times. The more your hands get used to holding the club, the more they will relax when you play, taking tension out of your swing. It is very important to feel the correct grip so it becomes automatic when you play.

Swing in balance
This balance drill will create the proper blend of arm swing and body rotation in your golf swing. By swinging with your feet together, you'll also swing the club on the correct path to maximize centerface contact with the golf club. So grab a 70-iron, place a ball on a tee, put your feet close together and swing. You should feel the club get light in both directions; let your arms swing freely.

Hear the whoosh
To generate more speed with the arms and teach the hands to hinge the club correctly, hold the club upside down beneath the clubhead and swing with one hand at a time, hearing the club whoosh at the bottom of the arc. After you work one hand at a time, put both together and repeat, hearing a whoosh-that's the sound of power.
