2016/7/18 17:11:40

Fly fishing for bass is becoming more and more popular as anglers are learning how fun, exciting and productive it can be. However, it does take some practice to be a good fly-fisherman. The first step is to learn as much as you can about this technique before you set out on your first adventure and that will help things to go much smoother.

Fly fishing is actually an ancient angling technique that has been revived to be one of the most popular methods for catching bass, among other species. To prepare for fly fishing you need a fly rod, artificial flies and fly-line to get started. Once you have all the equipment needed it\'s time to go fishing.

3 Techniques for Bass Fly Fishing

If you are just learning how to fly fish for bass there are three main techniques that you need to learn. These will help you to be successful each time you go bass fishing.

Casting Your Line - Casting is probably the main thing that you need to know how to do if you want to be successful at bass fly fishing. It\'s vital that you get the fly in the area where the bass are without disturbing the fish and scaring them away. This could take some practice but after awhile you will get the hang of it. It\'s suggested that you stand about twenty feet away from the strike zone and that you cast in a straight line. Relax your muscles for the best results because this will reduce any jerking that can ruin the cast.

Choosing the Right Flies - It\'s important to choose the right flies when fishing for bass. You need to use the colors that will attract them the most and this will depend on where you\'re fishing and how deep the water is. You also need to choose the right size. If the flies are too large for the bass they will ignore it and if they are too small they will pass it up for a better offer. Learn as much as you can about the bass in your area and this will help you to choose the right fly for the job. Of course, it never hurts to do a little experiment to discover what works best.

Presentation and Retrieval - After choosing the right flies to use in any given situation it\'s important to know how to present the fly to the bass and retrieve it in a natural way. The first rule to remember is that baitfish will not attack the predator. In other words, don\'t present the fly and retrieve it in such a way that it appears to be chasing or attacking the bass. This is the fastest way to make them flee in the opposite direction. Anytime a baitfish is acting unnatural the bass will scatter. So take some time to practice and improve your presentation and retrieval methods.

Following these 3 fly fishing bass techniques will help to improve your skills and make you a better fly fisherman.
