Benefits And Disadvantages Of Night Fishing

2016/7/18 17:11:42

There are more anglers who prefer to fish in the light of day than under the cover of night. This is in line with human nature as we tend to need rest when night falls rather than become more active. But many of these fishing enthusiasts might be missing out on the joys of night fishing if they are not already aware of what it can bring in terms of results.

One of the less obvious advantages is the visible lack of competition when fishing at night. This is natural since there are less people doing the same thing which opens up more room for you. It contributes to a larger catch at the end of the day.

Anyone who fishes in the day would have experienced the harsh weather conditions that might exist. This includes the risk of sunburn or even dehydration due to the heat. These are not present when doing the same thing at night. You might only have to worry about catching a chill instead.

If there is a moderate calm night with little wind velocity, you might be able to prosper in terms of the size of the catch. Fish are more likely to come to the surface when the water is calm. They will not be frightened away. You will need to do your part by lowering your lures carefully into the water.

During the night when visibility is low, fish will turn to their smell to seek out food. As an angler, this is a huge upside because there is no need to fight the smarter fish that will stay far away from the sight of a hook or line. Once they smell the food you use as bait, they might come in waves larger than those from the sea.

If you are aware of a fish's feeding frenzy, then this is another advantage you can have when preying on them under night cover. Since they cannot see well and just depend on smell, once you have gotten them coming together, it is a piece of cake having a complete and healthy haul.

Night fishing is not without its dangers. Safety concerns are high on the list of details one has to ensure proper attention is turned towards. If you are of an older age and eyesight might be an issue, it might become more risky to engage in the activities.

Despite some of these issues being worthy of concern, they can be sufficiently pre-empted by bringing along proper lighting equipment as well as thorough checks of all boat equipment and accessories ahead of the trip. They will help put your mind at ease and have a much more enjoyable fishing jaunt under the moonlight.
