A Guide For Ontario Canada Bass Fishing

2016/7/18 17:12:25

In recent years, it has become more and more difficult to come up with a trophy sized fish, but bass fishing is really the exception, and especially in areas such as Ontario, Canada's bass waters, it is still quite likely to pull a smallie over five pounds out of the water.

To be successful and maximize your catches when it comes to bass fishing Ontario, Canada, it pays to know where to find some good locations and to know how to fish them once you get there. Here are some tips that will help you find the prime bass fishing waters in Ontario.

First, whatever area in Ontario you plan to fish for bass, you should fish proven bass waters. If you want to catch large numbers of bass, fish lakes and areas within that lake that are known to produce large numbers of fish. If you want to catch really big bass, fish areas on lakes that are known to produce really big fish.

Normally, all you have to do to determine which lakes to go to, is ask around. Bait shops, other bass anglers, fishing clubs and organizations, and research in books, magazines, and the internet are all good ways to determine which lakes and where on those lakes you are likely to find your target.

Search out the road less travelled. It is to your benefit to move past the areas and lakes that are overfished. Fishing areas where the pressure is off, really does have multiple rewards.

Use good tackle. If you are fishing with the wrong baits, using the wrong line and rods and reels, you are going to have a tough time being successful.

Fish at the proper times. Dawn and dusk or low light times are the best times of day to catch bass, and though you can catch bass at other times of day, these will give you the best success, and make your fishing trip much more pleasant and rewarding.

When you are fishing for bass, keep all your presentations slow. If you spook the fish, you are going to lose the fish.

Use a big variety of lures or live baits. Once you hit on a winning combination, stick to it until the fish are no longer responding to it, but when this happens, don't be afraid to switch to something else.

Use the appropriate sized lures. If you want to catch big fish, use big lures. If you want to catch lots of table sized fish, use smaller lures. Add a scented product. The Yum Yum lures and other scent impregnated lures really do work! Use them!

Try the soft plastic lures that are impregnated with salt. It will draw bass as fast as you can reel them in when conditions are right!

Fish at night or during low light hours of the day using light colored lures.Watch the cycles of the moon, and fish those cycles religiously. It really does help you to catch fish more successfully.

Fish down into heavy cover that has deep water nearby.Follow the spawn carefully, and fish accordingly.Fish deep water structure, not just structure near the shore. Work on your fighting and landing techniques.

Getting a bass to bite is only half the struggle. You have to get it out of the water and into your live well for it to count!
