When making a paste with eggs, especially for summer barbel fishing, the addition of an oil will not only enhance the flavour but reduce the solubility of the bait so that it lasts longer.
I used to use extra virgin olive oil, but nowadays I add one teaspoon of hemp oil per egg.
The attraction of hemp is undisputable, but the I like to think that the addition of pure hemp oil to a paste has a double-whammy effect; it makes the paste more attractive, and also improves durability in warmer water.
