WET bread has been used for many years and it is still a very effective hook bait today. It is used mainly for trotting as it is far denser and softer than flake and tends to hug the bottom, producing far more positive bites as the fish tend to hang on to it a bit longer and really suck it in. Here’s how to prepare it…
Place a slice of bread crust in water for several minutes.
Wrap the crust in newspaper.
Place a heavy book over the wet bread and newspaper overnight.
Take wet bread still in newspaper to where you are fishing. Then rip off a piece and push the hook through.
Then twist the hook and pull back to secure the wet bread on the hook.
