Golf Is About Doing It Your Way

Many newbies in sports think it's all about copying the moves of their favorite athletes, like, say...LeBron James, Tom Brady, Stephen Strasburg or Tiger Woods. After all, don't those moves make them the best in their game?

If that's how you wish to roll, then chances are you don't have LeBron's hops, Brady's intangibles or Strasburg's 100-mph arm - or in this case, Tiger Woods' golf swing.

Really, no two people ever swing at the ball in the same way. Everyone has a muscle type and body type that cannot be 100% the same as another person. A method of golf used by one person who's of a different build and has developed a different set of muscles may not be of value to you. This is especially true with golf. Find a method of playing that produces results for you, and then go with it.

To further enhance your natural game, professional coaching can help you correct any faults you may have. But when choosing a professional coach, you'll need to find someone who won't try to change the way you play by teaching you his technique when it isn't appropriate.

If you hire a pro, make sure he is a top notch player. And make sure he isn't someone who will just let you do your thing and not lift a finger. He should be a coach that will teach you to think out of the box and help you avoid the threats of sand, mud and water. Then you'll really be getting value for your money!

Once it's time to play an actual round of 18 holes, you should be decisive when your turn comes around. And if you ever have a lousy game, stick to what worked in the past and avoid unnecessary experimentation. Having gotten that out of the way, you should let it be known that there are some very fundamental things in golf you have to follow. But think of it this way - you will never make a good shot if you've got all these different voices (or maybe your coach's voice in your head with all those different tips and advice) telling you what to do and how to do these things the right way.

If you want to move up in your individual game, take note of these two suggestions.

It's all about balance, regardless of the club you are using or the stroke you are trying to make. You must keep balanced during the striking of the ball.

The second tip would be to focus on the ball at all times. Make sure any stance you take allows you to see the ball from every point of the stroke.

Take your time and develop your own methods that work for you. And when you're doing well, be sure to give the kid who's trying to mimic you the advice above!
