Aruba Diving for a Memorable Experience

The small island of Aruba in the Southern Caribbean consists of miles of pure white sandy beaches that line the calm crystal clear blue sea, which in places allow visibility to depths approaching one hundred feet. The lure of the water is intoxicating for many, meaning that activities such as deep sea fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving are all incredibly popular. Indeed Aruba diving attracts enthusiasts from all over the world due to the outstanding dive sites that can be found in close proximity.

The tranquility of the surroundings is something that simply has to be experienced to fully appreciate its splendor. The marine life is breathtaking, with creatures such as stingrays, manta rays and seahorses accompanying divers in their underwater expeditions. Aruba is undergoing a program of preservation for its numerous reefs, which are staggering in their appearance. Leading ecological groups are inviting participants in Aruba to help with the installing of mooring buoys, designed to establish a kind of undersea park, protecting all within it.

There are scores of companies who provide the facilities and equipment to take part in Aruba diving, but it is advisable to undergo a short course to achieve the fundamentals of the skill sets necessary. An hour and a half in the classroom is sufficient, followed by an hour in a pool to permit a dive of up to 30 feet in the company of a professional diver. There are opportunities to take more advanced coaching, which brings an upgrade to the beginners certification, and consequently permits deeper dives.

It is advised that the inexperienced head down to the south of the island, where they will find the calmest of the waters, which obviously will help to rid some of the inevitable nerves, and once the adrenalin kicks in, play a part in a truly unforgettable time. The beauty that lies just below the surface is astonishing, making Aruba a real must for those with adventure inside them.

Amongst the more striking of the reefs to visit are those at Malmok, Arashi, Sonesta, and Porto Chiquito. Malmok is a bottom reef full of leaf coral and diving around here will see individuals come face to face with huge lobsters and a remarkable number of sting rays that gather on a daily basis, together with giant barrel sponges of brilliant colors. Arashi is the place to go and see some fabulous looking angel and parrot fish, whilst Sonesta is the home to two sunken airplanes, which are a real pull for divers.

Porto Chiquito is famous across the island for its sensational underwater landscape, with huge star coral castles blending in with coral of many varied varieties such as: brain, flower, finger-leaf, pillar and sheet. The site was actually once referred to as Snapper City after the massive manta rays and giant turtles that can be found in the location. It is probably the one reef dive that should not be missed under any circumstances, it is a truly magical Aruba diving experience.
