Question
break off
break off
hello sir, after a horse break from the gates, should jockey virtually stand up within seconds and ride
         (or)
firstly they should do seat hack, get their mount in his/her rythm, after pace settles down, they should stand up?

Answer
Every jockey has a different style and every horse breaks differently. They jockey will break to what is most comfortable to him and the horse. A jockey from time to time may be thrown off balance so he may sit back for a few strides until he can rise up in the irons. A jockey should not be sitting back and bouncing on a horses back. He should appear to have full control of the horse without "breaking in his mouth". "Breaking in the mouth" means to pull the rains tight in the mouth as to catch balance. This action is hard on the horse and causes the horse's head to snap up while the jockey used the reins to hold on. The horse may lose a lot of ground by this mistake. The reins should be loose as a horse breaks out of the gate while the jockey holds on to main or simply uses his lower leg to hold tight.
