hand placement - by ears or lower?

Question
My son is 13 and has played travel baseball for five years.
Currently he is receiving differing instruction from his
coaches regarding the location of his hands (high by the
ears) or low (hovering around the rib area).  Which is
correct?  We would like your opinion based on the players
you teach and what you learned in the major leagues from
your hitting coaches.  Thanks so much.

Answer
What I will say is that the right way is what  is successful for your son.
every batter is different and what is comfortable for one hitter may not be for another. Every hitter  no matter where he starts his hands needs to get them in the hitting slot which is around the shoulder area. Either a little higher or lower. hands held too high or low can cause certain problems.but if his high school coach doesnt like it will he get the chance to show what he can do.
