My shots go left to the point its really annoying

Question
Alright, I know all about how to shoot correctly, even bought instrutional videos. But none worked. I really dont get it everytime I shot a jumpshot, freethrow, somehow it goes left and dont bother giving me the links already looked at all of(yeah im that desperate).

Answer
Hi Chris,

Well it sounds like we should just give up and not try anymore. Just kidding but that is the way you make it sound. We can fix it if you believe and are willing to work at it with a positive attitude. It can't hurt to review your instruction videos and links that help with shooting. You might think you are doing everything correctly but obviously you are not. We have to figure what you are doing that causes your shot to go left.

Is your follow through with your wrist pointing left? It should be straight over and pointing to the right just a little bit. Is your elbow straight up and down at a 90 degree angle or is it pointing out the right a little bit? These are two things that can cause your shot to finish to the left.

Do you have access to a video camera? If you do, have a friend video you from the front, back, and both sides shooting several shots. Then check your form, set up(are you facing directly at the basket), and your follow through. When you actually see yourself shooting you might be able to recognize the problem.

Now the last thing and a lot of times this is the reason as it is mental. You have been thinking about it so much and trying to correct your shot you get mental and you feel nothing will ever work. You have to believe in yourself because if you don't nobody will.

1. review your shooting instructions and make sure you understand them completely.

2. film yourself and recognize any faults in your shot.

3. correct what is wrong and practice, practice, and practice.

4. Believe in yourself!
