Football Route running

Question
What happens when if im Tight End and im to slow to run the routes? What should I do then, how do i get faster or quicker?

Answer
Well if your too slow to run the routes, maybe you should try or request to play another position? but if you like playing TE, then your going to need to get your speed up.

you can do this by doing the following:

1. running stairs. sprint up flights of stairs as fast as you can, 1 stair, 2 stair, or even 3 stairs at a time. 1 stair is the best for acceleration and speed, while 2 is best for increasing speed as you run ( as if your at the 50m line while your running a 100m sprint, you'll just keep going faster, rather then beginning to slow because your acceleration as started to burn out). a workout of stairs would be the following:

try 10 times up of 1 stair,1 min rest, 10 up for 2,1 min rest, then 15 for 1,1 min rest, then 10 for 2, 1 min rest, then 20 for 1.

2. suicides are also a great way to increase speed and sprint endurance. do 11 suicides as fast as you can, with a  30 sec in between each.

3. sprints. do 60-100m sprints. 60 for hard power and acceleration, 100m for sprint endurance. start at 60, and after a few weeks begin to move up in meters, 10m each time, until you reach a 100.  a good sprint workout you can do at the end of your workout, or just to solely train on speed,  do 10 sprints, with 15 sec rest in between.

4. work on your hip flexor. this is where all your speed and power comes from. all the exercises from above help work on it. if you can find anything else that can help strengthen it, do it. weight training will also help.
