D-End

Question
Good day. My name is Michael and I'm a sophomore playing on my high school football team. I am currently playing middle linebacker, but would like to know what I should do about becoming a defensive end. I am 5' 9", 200 lbs. I am trying to get bigger, but my weight training teacher always takes us out of the weight room before I'm done and I hardly get to work on my legs. I don't have a squat box or leg press at my house. How do I get bigger before my junior year? And if I do get bigger, would defensive end be right for me? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Mike,

In all honesty, I kinda like your size at Linebacker. But if you want to play DE you need to discuss it with your coaches. As far as getting stronger, keep lifting and find a place where you dont get rushed through a weight workout. If you need to work out at home you can try some plyometrics. You can find info about plyometric workouts on the internet. That type of exercise will improve your explosion.

Good luck,
Mark
