Summer Training Drills for Middle Linebackers: Improve Agility & Explosiveness

I am a middle linebacker at my high school and I was wondering what sort of drills do you recommend I do during this summer to improve my skills. Thanks.

Hi Mike,

I assume you are already lifting with your teammates so lets concentrate on agility. I am a big advocate of the agility ladder which works different footwork patterns. Also plyo box jumping is great for explosive strength. I think that when camp begins your coaches will have plenty of time to work on technique so concentrate on your strength and agility now. You could also work on your drops in to pass protection zones.
