Question
Hi i am a sophmore this year and i am going to be starting for my highschool team at scrumhalf. i am 5' 9'' and about 140. Over the winter i want to bulk up a little for next years season since i will be playing with juniors and seniors. As a scrumhalf what muscles should i be focusing on to build up? i play soccer as well so i will be set with aerobic activities and intervals but i want to put on some muscle mass so i dont get knocked around. Thanks

Answer
Hi Petey,

A scrum half gets their passing power from their core. not just abbs but the whole core. I do not set fitness for people online as I feel you need to work with a proper trainer to get good, safe results. See if you can join a gym or the local YMCA and work with a trainer especially one who might have experience with rugby.

Focus on your core, explosive power (short sprints and explosive exersises.

Work with a well qualified trainer.
