Softball scoring help

Question
I am an amatuer scorekeeper and statistician for our 12U girls fastpitch team.  A question came up and I am hoping you can answer it.  With a runner on base, the pitcher throws a ball in the dirt which I rule a wild pitch.  The runner on first advances to the next base.  I have just marked WP.  Our coach says I should give credit to the base runner as a stolen base and also denote the wild pitch.  Our coach is not a parent amatuer, but a seasoned coach.  Anyway, I just want a clarification as I thought a stolen base was really a "base stolen not given in error".
thanks,
Gary

Answer
Hi Gary,

Looks like your correct.

In ASA  11-8 states " a stolen base is credited to a runner whenever he advances one base unaided by a hit, putout, force out, fielder's choice, passed ball, wild pitch , an error, illegal pitch or obstruction."

That should do it for everybody concerned.
