Baseball Safety: Pitching Violations and Player Protection

Question
At my daughters game the pitcher hit the batters 10 times (fast pitch) and laughed about it each time.  In a game three days ago she hit 7 players.  Is there a limit to prevent the pitcher from actually injuring someone.  Two girls were hit and were not given a base because the ball hit them and the bat at the same time.  They did not swing, not only did they not get a base but the umpires called a strike.  Shouldn't there be some concern for safety with girls pitching 36 + miles an hour?

Answer
Hi Carol,

Gosh, I think there should always be a concern for safety.

There is no rule re: #s of hit batters

You can eject a player for unsportsmanlike conduct and laughing about hitting a batter(s) certainly should be considered by the umpire after they have had a "little talk" with the manager and the pitcher.

If in the umpire's opinion she is deliberately throwing at batters we could also have unsportsmanlike conduct.  I would mention that possiblility in my "little talk" also.
