Muskie Fishing on the Kentucky River: Fall Tactics & Techniques

Question
what is the best way to fish for muskie at dams in ky river im fishing off the wall

Answer
Hi Jason,

I sure don't know much about that particular location.  I'd need to know a little more about the depths, river speed, water clarity, etc.

I guess I'd go to some real cant miss presentations for starters.  I'd start out with some aggressive presentations like a fast moving bucktail or tandem spinnerbait.  Something like a Mepps single Musky Killer and a Grim Reaper Wildcat Spinnerbait.  If nothing is going with that I'd go to a twitch bait like a 6" Grandma or a big Bomber minnow (17A).  Swimbaits are also hard to beat in most situations these days.  A 5" Storms Wildeye Shad is a very subtle presentations if the fish are spooky.  And don't forget a jerk bait like a 7" Suick.  I would generally stay with slightly smaller baits for river fish.

Good fishing,

Marc
