hello, I have an ugly stick rod that has a pistol grip with a short handle. Is the any way to change it to a longer stile of handle?

Yes, the handle can be changed.

It may or may not be possible to utilize any of the existing handle and reel seat components.  You need to locate a rod builder in your area and get an estimate of cost to make the change you want.

At minimum, the change will require removing the old handle, the reel seat, and installing new components.  Or, you may decide to extend the rod shaft from the butt end to accommodate a longer handle.  You will have a variety of options to choose from for new reel seats and new handle styles.
