Vintage Winchester Pole & Shakespeare Reel - Age & Value
Question
CAN YOU TELL ME HOW OLD THIS POLE AND REEL ARE. THE POLE AS WINCHESTER TRADE MARK MADE IN USA #6009. THE REEL # SERVIGE 13042 SHAKESPEARE. LOOKS LIKE A CASTING REEL. POLE LOOKS LIKE SOME KIND OF WOOD. HAS A WOOD FOUR SIDED HOLDER ABOUT THREE FT. LONG. I GOT THIS FROM MY DAD AFTER HE PASSED AWAY.
Answer
Donald,
the fishing reel is from the teens thru the 20s. They are fairly common and run about $5-35 depending on condition. The rod sounds like a trolling rod. But difficult to tell. But would date from the 20s-30s.
The Winchester rod appeals both Winchester collectors and fishing tackle collectors. 3 ft sounds short. But if its complete, would run $25-100 depending on condition.
Note: values are down greatly with the economy...more selling then buying.
Let me know if you have any fishing lures for sale.
