Fenwick yellow blank fly rod model FL 84-5

Question
What line weight should I use?

purple with black trim threads used on guides and a decorative chris-cross pattern 4 5/8" long just above the hook holder.  Aluminum furele is gold color, rod blank is yellow in color, total length 87 1/2", two piece bottom 28 1/2" --  top  60"

Is it valuable?

Answer
Hi Harvey,

The FL 84-5 is supposed to be a fairly good small stream fly rod blank.  It is a 5wt rod so use a 5wt-WF (weight forward) or 5wt-DT (double taper) line on it.

The key is in the label...84 is 84" or 7'0", and the -5 indicates a 5wt rod.

Thanks,  Joe
