Length of line?

QUESTION: I am pretty new to fishing and just purchase 2 shimano 10000xte reels, i am just wondering how much line i should put on a spool, i have 16lb line so just wondered on length, any help would be appreciated...

ANSWER: Greetings,

It is important to fill them up to just shy of the top of the spool. The reel speed will be much less if the spool is less full. It will also allow more time before having to respool with reties and snags.

QUESTION: Ok thank u very much for ur help, what about regards to tying it to the spool just like tying line to a hook or special knot ?

You can tie it with an improved chinch knot your spool, it does work. It doesn't hurt to wrap the line around the spool twice.

I like to lay down a single layer of electrical tape so the line doesn't slip on the spool when heavy pressure is put on it like during a hook set....line slip is bad at that instant.
