I have a good question for you.
This belong to a friends Grandfather to which my friend is in her 50's her dad in his late 80's the Grandfather ??????? I am surely led to believe this is from the 1800's I cannot find another like it. It is made of leather the most durable bag I have ever seen. It reminds me of a leather saddle it is so strong. Kinda looks like the old doctor bags you see on TV. One the front it reads. C.J.W Below that it has SPORTS FISHING. Do you have any clue or knowledge on this bag ? Or could you lead me in the right direction.

You have me stumped on this one. Usually leather tackle boxes tin with leather wrapped around the outside. Usually they have tin drawers or inserts with compartments for lures.
Leather tackle boxes are usually dated from the 1880s thru the 1920s.
Did it have any fishing tackle with it?
