water dog/mud puppy

hey i have been looking for a live bait called a water dog also called a mud puppy they look like some kind of lizard or something, do you know where i might be able to find these?

either to order online or maybe find some place that sells them i live in atlanta, georgia USA

Hi Mia,

Yes, they are a very good bait for big bass, especially in the spring when Bass are on the beds.  

They are very difficult to obtain here in the midwest.  My state now requires a bunch of red tape and a amphibians license to stock them so no one bothers.  They are also difficult to keep.

As far as a place in GA, I don't know.  I'd ask a few good bait shops if they would get them for you.  Some of them have them available, but don't order them.  They may order in just what you want to buy.  

Make sure they are legal in GA.

They use them a lot in TX.  If all else fails, you can order them from www.livewaterdogs.com in Texas.  They will ship them to you.
