Identifying and Appraising Vintage Stainless Steel Fishing Rods
Question
I have an old spin casting pole that is made out of stainless steel about four feet long with only a the tip eyelet on it, cork handle. Been trying to identify this on the net but no luck. Have you ever heard of this kind of pole and as to who might have manufactured it and is it worth trying to sell or should i just keep for a conversation piece. anything you could tell me would be very appreciated.

Answer
Hi
I just got power back today after the remnants of Ike came thru. There are litterally dozens of manufacturers that made rods similar to what your describing. They usually dont generate much value, but they are fun to match up to an old bait casting reel like a
Shakespeare Marhoff. You can buy nylon line off the web, monofilimant will distroy old reels.
If the rod is really missing all its eyelets except one, it probably has little value.
