Rare Adamant Rod Guides: A Look Back at a Classic Fishing Component
Question
I have a couple dozen remaining rod guides made be ADAMANT. I can find no info about them in today's markets. My first contact with the name was in a classic book by Van Campen Heilner, "Call of the Surf" written around 1918. I believe.
Heilner, in speaking of having rods made, stated something like..
"The first thing to do with your rod is to bring it to a capable rod builder, and have him tie ADAMANT guides on it".
I used to rebuild old rods , often using these guides.
