Sears Fishing Rod & Reel Value: Identification & Appraisal

Hi Mark,I have just purchased a Sears 6.5 foot spinning rod.Made from fibre glass,(I guess),Reccomended line 6-12 lbs,there is a code on the rod 6 535 2859.In lovely condition.With it came a medium sized multiplier reel ,,Sears Levelwind,code6 4374.Could you please tell me a bit about these items including if possible their current value,thankyou,ozcarp6.

Hi Steve,

I don't know a lot about Sears tackle but I see the stuff come up a lot on e-bay.  Unfortunately, it doesn't ever get very high bids, and some time any bids. So for collectors it probably isn't very desirable.

The rod and reel, in good shape, may be worth $40-$60.  

Without seeing it I would guess that it is probably from some time in the 1950's.  Several companies made private-label tackle for sears.
