First, let me apologize for not answering sooner; due to a glitch of some sort, I didn't know about your question until this morning.

An interesting question, but I don't have a ready answer.  I'll be happy to look into it for you, though.

In what condition is the can?  What material?  Please place a magnet near it and let me know if it appears to be steel or aluminum.  In the meantime, I'll see what I can find out for you.

additional information per your request:
it appears to be steel; magnet attracted and held to can.  1 to 3 cans in very good condition; others have wear.  some rust on all but mainly on top or bottom of can.  cans have never been opened.  found in old shed which i believe preserved cans.

Yeah, I thought they'd be steel.  Haven't got anything on this in my ready reference material, and some of that goes back to the forties.  Sounds to me as if you may have something at least unusual, and probably collectible.  As to value, can't help you.  Have you tried any of the collectors' sites?

A 'Net search for Freezit turned up a European company that does freeze preservation commercially, but nothing about a bait-enhancement product.

Be interesting to know what you learn.
