do you know what is best size hook to use for bass  there are different size hooks for all fish where can i get a book on what size hook for each fish

It all depends in which way you're fishing for bass.  If you're using live bait, often size 2-4 baitholders work nicely depending upon what it is you're using for bait.  If you're fishing with 7in or greater soft plastics I would suggest  0-3/O worm hooks.  For 5in soft plastics I typically use a size 0 worm hook.  

As far as matching hook size to fishing style and species, I would just consult somebody at the local tackle shop.  They can tell you what most people buy for specific types of fishing, and what they use themselves.  I would suggest you stop by one of the better local tackle shops and talk to the folks running the shop.  That was how I learned a lot of tackle related stuff.
