Heddon #6906 Mark IV Fiberglass Casting Rod: History & Value

Question
I have a Heddon #6906 Mark IV 6 1/2 foot, Controlled Flex Action.
What can you tell me about it, ie: date of manufacture and value.

Thank you.

Answer
James

This rod is neither bamboo nor fly. It  is round and probably made of fiberglass. It was made in the late 50s to early 70s. The collectors command the prices and history.
It just so happens to be in Homel. Usually there is history or information on fiberglass and spin rods- I have almost had to give spin cast rods away.
Price Book:
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide by Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.

Information - history:
Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook   by Michael Sinclair

Classic & Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle: A Guide for Collectors & Anglers by A.J. Campbell

Homel gives the "Mark I - IV" fiberglass casting & spinning rods 3, 9 and $18 for poor, good, and excellent condition respectively.

Luck,
Mac
