I believe your rod is an Occupied Japan fishing rod. After WWII, the US occupied Japan and started up industries. A number of companies made split bamboo fly rods. They usually came in wood boxes with line, flies, etc. They were low cost rods. Typically they sell for around $50 in a complete box. The rod alone would be around $10.
