I have a Powell Western Sierra IM-6 5-6WT.. Number 2473-9  .. Do you know when this rod was manufactured and where ?  What did they consider this a Medium action rod ?  I have not fished with the rod yet but do plan on it !

Ron - My first actual Powell rod question!!  Thank you!  That rod was made in Chico, CA in 1989 - as indicated by the serial number.  It would be considered moderate to moderately fast action.  It's a Light Touch rod which, in my opinion, are among the finest graphite rods ever made.  Fish it and enjoy it and be secure in the knowledge that you have one of the nicest graphite rods it's ever been my pleasure to cast.
