Question
Dear Eddie

im from south africa

Ive been surfing the internet over and over hoping to find some answers about my driver .. I dont know why but as soon as i step up to hit my driver it already feels like it wil result in to a fade type of shot , now i have tried all things like getting a stifer shaft, betering my grip and hitting the ball from the inside ! it usely resulted in to a huge fade or slice and then when i started doing all those corect things it was even getting worse ... it stars to draw and pull down the left side , I have even tried a flater plane i swing my driver a good 250 m or as you would call it over there around about 270 yrds sometimes thow it goes straigt but not alot .Im sorry to bother u but dont u have a way or drill on how to practise sweet spots on drivers ? Cause i think and feel that im not hitting my sweet spot good enough aswell . My irons and 5 hood is the only clubs i hit well but the 3 wood and driver is a no ! eny tips and advise will do

Answer
Hi Johan:

No I don't have any drills for sweet spots with drivers.  You need some professional instruction from a qualified PGA instructor.  Ask around or call around where you are and see who is a good teacher.  They could help you.  If you're fading it or slicing it, you need a weaker shaft, not a stiffer one.  You need to learn the correct rotation of the hands through out the entire swing so you can learn how to square the clubface at impact without too much rotation resulting in a hook.  Your grip would be the first thing I looked at.  Your hands must work together to produce consistent results.  Incorrect hand action is usually the problem.  If it is not corrected, then the golfer will start searching for other areas of the swing to try to fix it, like you did with a flatter swing plane and hitting from the inside.  Those are things to try, not things that fix it.  Finding an answer over the internet to fix your problems will not occur.  Sorry I cannot give you tips in a response to your question, it is simply too hard to capture all of that in a few sentences.  Get together with a PGA professional and get some good instruction.  You will fix your problems quicker and then can start practicing the correct habits to build a consistent, repeating golf swing that produces sweet spot hits with your driver or any other club you wish to use.  Good luck to you Johan.
