shaft x 6.0 flighted

Question
Play Pro Gold Adams flighted x6.0 with 4 hcap. When fit for irons professionally I could feel the kick at the bottom of my swing when striking the ball. Loved the feel, shot dispersion 5 yds on 6i max. Once clubs arrived the feel of the kick is absent. Do I need to get cpm or possibly soft stepped? Is is not a normal feel for people in general to feel the kick? Being a feel player with a fast tempo coming thru the zone what can I do to replicate?

Thanks,

Answer
Hi Messer,

Usually, the kick at the bottom is due to a combination of swing weight, shaft flex and location of the kick point on the shaft.

If you now don't feel the kick, it might be that the kick point of the shafts you have is lower than what you tested, the shaft is stiffer or the swing weight is lighter.

The only thing you can do to alter the clubs without changing the shafts is to increase the swing weight. By doing so, the club head will feel slightly heavier and the shaft is more likely to kick at impact. You'll be able to feel the club head better throughout the swing, which is what I assume you're also looking for.

You can also increase the swing weight by putting a lighter grip on the club, thus making the club head/grip end ratio slightly greater.

Use some lead tape on the back of you irons to increase the swing weight. Don't put lots on at once, but add in increments until you have the feel you want.

Hope this helps.
