HITTING THE BALL OF A GREEN

Question
A friend sliced his tee shot way right and onto a previously played green, can he hit the ball off the green and repair any damage? what is the official ruling? thank you.

Answer
Deric,

The player that hit his ball onto another green would do the following. He would drop off the green two club lengths from the edge of the green, no nearer the hole, and proceed with his next shot.

This rule is in place to protect the putting surfaces of the greens on the golf course.

Thank you,
