my game is almost there BUT...

Question
ok i took 1 year off cause of work and everything... but i have returned to playing and i am now 100% focused on golf... i hit my irons nice and crisp... the only times they are not is if i am careless and play the ball to far back in my stance... putting is at about 1 putt per hole... but MY DRIVER IS KILLING ME... i have noticed and found my issue but i cant correct it... my hand don't want to rotate so i hit a slice each time... well they do rotate if i hit the ball really soft and goes right down the middle but if i speed up my swing my hands don't want to come squared... what can i do to make them rotate as i come to impact?

Answer
Hi Evan:  Best advice I can give you is to get some PGA Professional instruction and start working at it.  You must first check your grip because a good grip should do that for you.  And if you don't know how to do that, then no one has ever shown you how to use your hands correctly.  Squaring the clubface is easy, it is a function of the grip (hands).  However, if your grip is not good, then it is next to impossible to consistently square the face.  But, to illustrate the correct motion of the forearms and hands through the impact area in a golf swing, simply hold out your left arm directly in front of you with your palm facing the sky.  Next, take your arm and hand and turn it over so your palm is facing the ground.  That is the rotation we seek in a golf swing.  The back of your left hand (logo on your glove and your knuckles) needs to turn down towards the ground and over.  The right hand works over the left hand to do it's job.  If you were to just swing a club with your right hand only, let the clubface open in the backswing towards the sky, and let it close over in the follow through.  You must use your right hand to turn the clubface over when you do that.  Together, the hands turn the clubface into the ball and it produces a slight right to left curvature of the ball and a solid shot with distance.  Again Evan, if you do not know how to do this or no one has ever shown you the correct grip and helped you to "release" the clubface square, then go get some PGA Professional Instruction.  It will save you so much time, energy, money and frustration of not knowing how simple that really is.
