Clubs for my son

Question
My son is interested in learning to play golf. He is to big for the junior sets and
to small for the full size sets. He is just now around 5'4" and 12 years old. My
boyfriend suggested maybe getting him a women's set. Is there any reason that
this would be a bad idea or do you have any other suggestions? I am not looking
to spend a lot and would like to get them for him for Christmas without his
knowledge.

Answer
Hello Jennifer, buying clubs for your son for Christmas is a great idea, and no there is nothing to stop you getting him ladies clubs. It is how i started out when i was 12, i inherited my mother's set. As always though, go to a proper PGA Professional at your local club and not to the high street, the pro can advise you on the correct set for your son, he will need to be assessed for the correct length of clubs. Good luck, Matt
