Drive question

Question
Hello - and thank you already for your input.  I'm about a 15 handicap, but had to take 9 months off due to my first year of law school.  Of course, it's taking me a while to get my swing back together.  Here's my main problem...

With my drive, I do either 1 of 2 things.  If I try and give it a full swing I pull it pretty hard left.  If I ease up a bit, I get a high drive that tends to fade too much.  So it's yin and yang as I either hit a straight drive that's pulled or I fade it too much left to right.  My drive used to be my best club, but it's not coming back yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I use a 9 degree driver, am 6 foot 2, in good shape, and all my shots tend to be extremely high (even with my 9 degree driver).

not sure if this can generate any advice, but I'll read anything.

Answer
Hello and thank you for asking.  I will give you the most likely solution for your errors and hopefully you will recognize or relate with them.

Pulling a straight ball on a hard swing is most likely due to overactive hips on the downswing.  What that does is it throws your balance off, and we get a little reverse pivot.  That means while your club is attempting to swing forward to the ball, your body is either staying exactly where it started, or it has actually shifted backwards, allowing the hands ot pass by and release way in front.

Swinging easier and fading or slicing the ball is actually the opposite of the common error, as was your first tendency.  However it is not impossible.  Sometimes when we try to swing easier and we are conscious of our handsy swing, we tend ot hold onto our hands, and not use them at all.  This means you are not releasing the clubhead from fear of hitting the ball too hard or attempting to "slow down" and that keeps the clubface wide open.

I will be more than happy to work with you more on your faults. First please send me the following
