Cant hit the driver!

Question
Hi, I'm 15 and i play off 19, i can hit my long-short irons straight, fairway woods straight, but i cannot hit the driver straight. It is always on the right side off the fairway or in the right side in the rough. The ball flight starts off straight but then veers off to the right.Any ideas?
thanks

Answer
Thanks for the question Richard, wow! where to start. Ok, i need to have a bit more information really, like;

1. Does it fly high or low?
2. Do you have a regular shaft or a stiff one? what flex is it? Graphite or Steel?
3. How much longer is it than your next fairway wood in terms of shaft length?
4. What is your clubhead speed?
5. What degree of loft is your driver?

If you know any of this please tell me, but until then i will make a few suggestions.

1. If your shaft is too stiff, it will mean you leave the club behind you a little bit at impact, therefore creating an open club face, and a lower ball flight: use a more flexible shaft.If it is steel, it may be too heavy and the same thing applies, use a lighter variety with more flex.
2. If your club has too little loft then you will again struggle to hit it straight, try hitting a shot with your putter and see where it flies! Right all the time.
3. If the club is too long for you, you will not be able to square the club face up, so grip down the shaft a little.
4. Try teeing your ball up higher, this will mean you strike off a more forgiving part of the club face. If you look closely at your driver face it is curved, heel to toe and top to bottom, this is called "Bulge and Roll" it is to do with the gear effect needed when we hit off centre shots. Complicated i know but trust me!
5. Try putting tape on the club face and seeing just where abouts you are contacting the ball, this will let you know if you need to alter where you stand.
6. Lastly look at your grip. How many knuckles on the left hand do you see? It should be 2-3, if not move it round to the right more until you do see 3.Then your shots should begin to fly straight.

Come back to me when you've tried these things out, and if you can give me more info this would be a huge benefit. Good Luck!
