Diving in Virginia Beach

Question
Hello, my 15-year daughter completed her first year of high school diving and loves the sport. She did well but she would like to go farther and improve. I'm wondering what type of assets are available in VA Beach and how we can assist the local coaches who want to develop programs to make our divers more competitive. One of the coaches has established an AAU club but we still don't seem to have a lot of pool time or connections. I would appreciate any suggestions. We're willing to travel, especially in the summer if there are active clubs.
Thank you,

The area of Virginia that you live is not known for having any major aquatic facilities that are found in other parts of the state. I could only find one pool with a 1 meter board in your town so it must be where she already trains. The closest area that I could find with USA Diving club teams is in the Richmond area, about 100 miles away.

Go to www.usadiving.org, click on Clubs and then Find A Club. Enter VA and a list of teams will come up. I saw two you should check out: Capitol Dive Club in Richmond and James River Aquatic Club in Henrico.Their contact info is there. You should try and take a day to visit both programs and see which is best for her. While at this site, click on Divers and then Camps and Clinics.Attending a summer camp/clinic in July may be a good option for her.

The other source for finding a team is at www.divemeets.com. At the top of the home page, click on Lists of Divers, Teams and Coaches. Click on Teams and a huge list will come up. Under AAU diving, look in the third column for teams in VA.Keep scrolling down to different American organizations, like NCAA, and each time you see VA, click on the teams name for more information.
While at this site, click on Upcoming meets or Past meets, and look for meets in VA or neighboring states like NC for meets she may be interested in.

Try www.swimmersguide.com. This site lists all the public swimming pools in the US. Just enter USA, and then VA. Click on cities or counties near you to see if they have diving programs. This is where I looked up Virginia Beach and saw one pool that listed diving.

www.diving.about.com is a site that explains the sport.

This is all I could come up with. Hope you can find something she likes.
