Question
What are teh levels of swiming competition world-wide?

Answer
World wide competition is governed by FINA.
The major international competitions are the world championships, as well as regional championships such as Europeans, Asian, or Pan Pacific.
These occur for the most part every two years in long course format, and every year in short course. The Olympics of course are every 4 years only and in long course.

Each nation also has their own levels of competition, including national meets, regional meets, collegiate and other interscholastic levels such as high school division champs etc.
